We had been drawn to God through Jesus Christ in a former instrumentality organised by Herbert W. Armstrong in 1933 (the Radio Church of God - renamed the Worldwide Church of God in 1968). It became increasingly evident that this organisation, built upon truths and errors, was rapidly losing its grasp of some basic Biblical truths and also began to teach additional errors. Some people were prepared to continue to look to God for direction as to how growth in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ might best be effected in an organisational way. With the formation of the United Church of God in May, 1995, it seemed to us that this instrumentality might carry on and nurture God's sheep in His religion. However, humanly-devised 'traditions' and 'imaginations' were placed above the word of God. Were we to succumb to the ongoing process of fulfilling prophecies as in Jeremiah 23, Ezekiel 34, and Malachi 2:1-9?
The Bible indicates that scattered around the earth are others who are wholehearted and hunger after the righteousness manifested by the Son of God. We experience that God is good, merciful, gracious, and will find some faithful on the earth (Lk 18:8; Isa 54:1-8; Rev 19:7-10). Firmly believing that God gives gifts in the Body of Jesus Christ, that He nourishes and prospers His people spiritually, we are confronted with how to apply 1Corinthians 12 and how to extend edifying fellowship in today's spiritually-starved and alienated 'global village' (Heb 10:23-5; 12:22-3).
As an unincorporated group, and knowing that any godly goodness that can be done is by the Power of God (2Tim 1:7; Rom 1:16-8; 1Cor 2:6-16; 1Jn 5:1-5), we attempt to reach out to brothers and sisters in Christ who are scattered around the world. We desire to always strive for spiritual growth and to walk by faith and in the Way of Righteousness (Matt 7:14; 21:32; Acts 18:25-6), instead of by humanly-satisfying opinions, perceptions, measures (Hab 2:4,1-4 [NRSV]; Heb 10:35-8; 1Jn 2:15-27). Being washed by the Word of God causes godly change, increase in spiritual resources, and an increased capacity to help others.
May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with all the saints wherever they might be (2Pet 3:14-8; 2Thess 3:18; Rev 22:21).
